What is ISO 9001:2015?
2 minute read
The ISO, or International Organization for Standardization, is an independent, non-governmental body that develops international standards —like specifications and guidelines for manufacturing, health and safety, environmental preservation, and more. Nearly 1 million companies across 170 countries have achieved ISO 9001 certification.
ISO 9001 is the international standard for a quality management system (“QMS”). In order to be certified to the ISO 9001 standard, a company must follow the requirements set forth in the ISO 9001 Standard. The standard is used by organizations to demonstrate their ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements and to demonstrate continuous improvement.
There are seven quality management principles that form the basis for ISO standards:
- Customer focus
- Process approach
- Evidence-based decision making
- Relationship management

To be certified ISO 9001:2015 compliant, we went through an internal-audit and a two-stage audit with an external, independent party. We documented all functional processes within the Quality Management System, creating performance metrics for each method for measurement. Additionally, we examined and observed all relevant functional processes, ensuring they are performing as intended.
